- Newborn sessions will optimally take place within the first 12 days days old, and usually occur in the comfortable environment of your own home. These sessions typically take longer than other sessions, but I like to get right to it (goal is under 2 hours- but will stay as long as needed) in order to get you all back to having visitors, napping and loving on your newborn!
- When I arrive at your home, I will scout out the best spot for natural light to set up our 'mini-studio'. The best place will be near a light filled window, where we will use a chair and a variety of blankets/wraps and other props to photography your sweet pea. (I bring props, but please, if you have something in particular that you would like for baby to wear (hat, wrap, etc) feel free!! I will shoot these mostly while baby is wrapped or nakey, so don't worry about outfits.
- If there is a space with hard wood floors, I may also use this as a secondary 'backdrop' for a few 'baby in basket' pictures.
- After baby has her own mini session, I like to take some family shots -- few with just mom/dad, just siblings, and then the whole fam. Mom and Dad's bed is a very sweet spot for these pics, especially if there is a light filled window nearby.
- Don't forget about the dog! Of course my favorite member of the family to include in pictures in your home is the family dog. So, please let him/her know that Ill be coming :)
- A few other thoughts....In order for your baby to stay asleep for as long as possible, it needs to be quite warm in the room/area where we are shooting. We can take as many breaks as needed for baby to eat/change, etc.
